广东外语外贸大学英文学院教授、博导、现任广州市外国语协会会长、美国权威学术期刊‘语言学与教育’(Linguistics& education: an international research journal)副主编、中国教育学会教育学分会教育人类学学术委员会理事会副理事长、中国英语教学研究会教师教育与发展专业委员会副主任、中国英语教学研究会英语写作教学和研究专业委员会副主任、广东省高校外语教师教学发展示范中心副主任、国家外国语言学与应用语言学中学兼职研究员。多次被邀在美、英、澳、香港等地召开的国际学术会议上做主题发言,在许多国家一流(包括哈佛、剑桥、乔治敦、巴斯、兰开斯特)大学做公开讲座,担任多家国际学术期刊和出版社的审稿人,英美多个大学的博士论文评委和终身教授评委。在教育人类学、中国学、跨文化研究、对比(学术)修辞、教师发展等领域都有丰厚的成果,在美,英,法,澳,阿,香港,内地的学术期刊上发表论文多篇。被社会科学、心理学、社会学、人类学、语言学、教育学、哲学等十八个国际权威学术摘录索引文献机构收录。曾任剑桥大学校外特聘博导、香港中文大学教育研究所研究员、联合国科教文组织英语交际法在朝鲜平壤的培训专家、广东省优秀教师(”南粤教师”)等。
  1. 主要研究兴趣
My research interests evolve around anthropological studies of various practices of community characterized by the western civil society and Chinese danwei (state-owned workunit) system in terms of issues such as leadership style, decision-making process, information circulation, rules of interpersonal interaction in public versus private sphere, community punishment and reward as control, ideology, face/power, group dynamics, and conflicts managements. My intent is to examine the impact of such various practices of communities at conflicts in the area of educational reforms that is presently going in China nationwide -- moving from the traditional conservatism towards a more liberalism education, featured with inquiry-oriented, humanistic, or interactive model. The application of my studies is to design and implement in-service teacher development programs that are culturally sensitive and community grounded to those frontier teachers. The other field of my work is on revealing insights of conflicts and trauma experienced by Chinese background scholars in publishing internationally, Chinese learners writing to argue in English, and Chinese research students in their supervision relation with Western scholars, and intervention programming.
